Classroom visuals with Raphael AI
Teachers spend evenings searching clip-art sites for a picture of a volcano that is not cartoonish, watermarked or wrong. This repo is a shared prompt bank for generating clear, age-appropriate illustrations with Raphael AI — a free AI image generator (https://raphael.app) that needs no account for a first try.
Style rules we follow
- Flat illustration, few colours. Easier to read when projected and cheaper to print.
- No generated labels. Models invent spelling; add labels yourself in the slide tool.
- White or very light background so the image works on worksheets.
- One concept per image. If you need a caption to explain it, simplify the prompt.
Subject prompts
- Science: cross-section of a volcano with magma chamber and ash cloud, flat vector, four colours, white background, no text.
- Geography: river delta seen from above with farmland and small villages, simple illustration, muted greens and blues.
- History: market square in a medieval town, people trading bread and cloth, picture-book style, warm palette.
- Maths: twelve identical red apples arranged in three rows of four on a table, top-down, plain background.
- Language: a cat sitting under a table, a dog on a chair, a bird above a window — one image each for prepositions.
Workflow
- Copy a prompt into Raphael AI.
- Generate two or three versions; choose the clearest.
- Drop it into slides, add your own labels, and note the prompt in the speaker notes.
Checking before class
Look for extra limbs, impossible shadows and accidental symbols. Children notice everything. If something is off, regenerate rather than edit.
